French producer Sunka, trained in Art at the Sorbonne University and with studies at the Atla jazz school in Paris, has developed since the mid-2000s a line of work where club-oriented electronic music blends with diverse rhythmic influences. His debut album, Breakstorming (2007), released by All We Need Records, opened a period marked by collaborations with artists such as Taiwan MC and Inja.
After moving to Bogotá, he began a process of exploring traditional Colombian rhythms, especially cumbia and various expressions from the Caribbean and the Pacific regions. From this period emerged projects such as Kartel Pacífico and albums like Coctel (2012), where his interest in integrating acoustic and folk elements within an electronic context was already evident.
In 2017 he released Colombian Party on Galletas Calientes, featuring artists like John Pri (Systema Solar), Marlen Obregón (La Mojarra Eléctrica, Afrotumbao), Santacruz Medina, Raspapulaman and Tynoko. His most recent LP, Sendero (2022), also released on vinyl by Galletas Calientes, clearly summarises this back-and-forth period between Europe and Colombia.
Besides his work with other labels, Sunka runs All We Need Records, a platform where he develops his more electronic and experimental side. Recent releases include Rebirth (2023) and Next Level (2024).
In 2025, he releases the EP Gozadera with Folcore Records, a project centred on the dancefloor and on the natural combination between Latin American rhythms and contemporary electronic production.
