The Latin American band based in Madrid has just released two hot new live tracks, «Se fue volando» and «Perro de agua», recorded in Madrid at the Black Bird Rental space. Both songs are based on traditional Venezuelan rhythms, and include special appearances by Desiré Paredes on vocals and Ilde Díaz on percussion.
“Se fue volando” is an adaptation of a traditional Venezuelan song interpreted in the Candeleros trademark style of Caribbean psychedelia. It mixes the Coriano rhythms and culo’e puya drums from Tacarigua with the traditional folkloric song of the mountain-workers around Madrid, “Vengo de moler, morena”, brought to life in the adaptation by Desiré Paredes.
«Perro de agua» fuses guitar, bass, and synth with shades of seventies funk in a polyrhythmic conversation with the quitiplás from Tacarigua. The track was inspired by the sample you hear in the intro, a song by Isaac Sasson from his album «Canciones de Isaac», which was inspired by “Mare Mare”, recorded by Oswaldo Lares, creator of the Lares Archive.
You can hear both songs in person at the upcoming Candeleros concert on February 29 at the Tempo Audiophile Club in Madrid.
